Remember the limited-edition 252hp Audi A1 Quattro? Audi is reportedly preparing to launch a similar model, the S1 Quattro, which we have spied testing in Europe, for the Geneva Motor Show in March.

As the name reveals, the S1 will be the performance model of the A1 lineup, with Auto Express citing an inside source that said the car will feature a 230hp engine. The unit is a detuned version of the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine from the Audi S3, on which it produces 296hp (300PS). It is not clear yet whether Audi will offer the S1 with a standard six-speed manual or a dual-clutch S-tronic automatic transmission.

The Audi S1 will feature Quattro all-wheel drive as standard and is expected to go on sale shortly after the Geneva debut.

The hot hatch should feature subtle upgrades compared to the standard A1, including a more aggressive bodykit, larger air intakes in the front bumper, quad exhausts and S1 badging. The S1 will also feature slight changes that will preview the A1 facelift.

The car is expected to be available in both three-door hatchback and five-door Sportback variants and should have the option of several unique colors. The Audi S1 Quattro will debut alongside the all-new Audi TT in Geneva, with pricing tipped to be similar to the VW Golf GTI.
