On sale since 2010, the Amarok is Volkswagen’s entry in the mid-size pickup segment and it is offered in many markets around the world, but not in the States, where excessive taxes would make it a very tough sale.
Over the years, VW has applied some minor updates to the Amarok, but has yet to release a full facelift, which brings us to this prototype spied testing in Europe.
As noted by our man with the long lens, the only difference seen on the truck are the new headlamp clusters with Xenon lights and LED daytime running lamps (DLRs), which are not offered on the current version. The same units were used on last year’s Amarok Power Concept displayed at Wörthersee Tour in Austria.
Could these new lights be part of a greater facelift or is VW simply preparing to add them to the list of available options in the next model year update? Guess we’ll just have to wait to find out…
