Korean carmaker SsangYong hopes to renew consumer interest in its Korando Sports commercial pick-up truck in the UK with the release of a lightly updated 2014 model.

Changes include the introduction of a new speed sensitive power assisted steering, an increased towing capacity to 2.7 tonnes, and the availability of three new hard top options that add a number of features such.

The three optional top designs include the ‘Top-Up cover’ priced at £1,655, which is a hinged, flat glass-fibre cover; the ‘Classic’ (£1,695) that is a full hard top with a rear brake light, interior light, side opening glass, fixed front glass and interior lining, and the ‘Elegance’ (£1,995), which is similar to the Classic, adding a heated rear window, sliding front glass, LED interior light, central locking, pop out opening windows and roof bars.

Buyers can choose from two trim models, beginning with the SX that comes equipped with 16-inch alloy wheels, tinted glass, air conditioning, leather steering wheel, remote central locking, a Kenwood MP3 CD & RDS radio with a USB & auxiliary port and Bluetooth connectivity.

The EX adds 18-inch wheels, leather upholstery with heated front seats, powered driver’s seat, heated, electrically adjustable and power folding door mirrors and rear parking sensors.

There’s only one available engine for the all-wheel drive Korando Sports, a 2.0-liter diesel unit producing 153hp (155PS) and 265 lb-ft (360Nm) of peak torque connected either to a manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic. Prices start from £15,042, excluding VAT.
