Audi has announced the addition of 11 new models for its Ultra line of fuel-efficient diesel vehicles. Following the A3 1.6 TDI Ultra, the German carmaker released similar editions for the A4, A5 and A6 lineups.
The new Ultra models are powered by a 2.0-liter TDI engine available in three states of tune: 134hp (136PS), 161hp (163PS) and 188hp (190PS). Maximum torque varies between 320 Nm (236 lb-ft) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft), while CO2 emissions are between 104 and 119 grams per kilometer, depending on the model.
The A4, A5 and A6 Ultra models average between 3.9 l/100 km (60.3 mpg US) and 4.6 l/100 km (51.1 mpg US), with Audi claiming they are the most efficient conventionally-powered cars of their segment.
All cars are offered as standard with a six-speed manual gearbox with taller gear ration in the upper gears, while a new seven-speed S tronic transmission is optional on the A6 Ultra. A start-stop system is standard on all models, as is the driver information system with efficiency program. The A4 and A4 Avant also feature aerodynamic modifications and a lower body to reduce fuel consumption.
The new Ultra models already comply with the Euro6 emissions regulations, thanks to a highly efficient SCR system that removes nitrogen oxides from the exhaust.
On sale from the first quarter of this year in Germany and other European markets, the new Ultra models start from €32,600 ($44,050) for the A4 Ultra with the 134hp engine. The A5 Sportback starts from €37,350 ($50,470), the A5 Coupé from €38,150 ($51,540), while the A6 executive sedan is priced from €39,900 ($53,945).
