Australia was taken off the world motor show map in 2013, when the event planned last year in Melbourne was cancelled, after several automakers decided not to attend and the announcement was made that it would not be followed by another one any time soon.

Now though, we learn from Carsguide that it may be coming back in 2015, in a completely new format. The plan is for a “next-generation motoring festival” that would also take place in Melbourne (Sydney was the other alternative).

The announcement stated that it will be “interactive” and “dynamic” but shied away from specifying any details on how that’s going to be achieved.

The venue will “include manufacturers and importers, and also motoring clubs, vehicle displays and exhibitions,” and will allow for extensive test driving opportunities for visitors and press.

It’s just a shame that it’s all a bit of an ironic paradox that the show will go on when the country/continent’s automotive industry will not.
