India’s DC Design is no stranger to…strange designs, but with the Eleron, it’s taking it one step further. Shown for the first time in public at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014, the Eleron certainly does stand out from the crowd, but not in a good way.

Oddly proportioned and with a face that only a…bunny could love, the single-toothed Eleron supposedly combines the world of targa-top coupes with SUVs.

And don’t let the pictures fool you – this thing is huge at 5,050mm (198.8 inches) long, 1,965mm (77.4 inches) wide and 1,710mm (67.3 inches) tall. It also weighs two-and-a-half tons (5,512 pounds)!

DC Design fitted the Eleron with a 2.0-liter turbocharged petrol engine twisting out 265-horses and 360Nm of peak torque that turns all four wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission.

Like DC Design’s other production-intent model, the Tia mini roadster, the Eleron is built on a space frame with a roll cage and features carbon composite body panels. Its maker quotes a 0-100km/h (62mph) acceleration time of 9 seconds and a top speed of 200km/h (124mph).

“We are looking to sell 500 units per annum of Eleron and and 1,000 units per annum of Tia after its launch in 2016,” DC Design founder Dilip Chhabria told reporters, according to India Times. “We have invested Rs 50 crore each for the production of the two models so far and are looking at further investments in the coming time.”

DC Design said that it estimates the four-seater Eleron to carry a base price of Rs 35 Lakhs (about $60,000 or €41,000) in India.
