The Nissan Qashqai is easily one of the manufacturer’s most important models in the global context, and therefore, it needs to be solid, have mass appeal, be economical, be stylish and, of course, safe.
The first credentials were discovered to be present through the reviews that have so far been published, and to that we can now add excellent safety ratings released by EuroNCAP which just finished putting the crossover through its battery of tests.
The Qashqai achieved the full five-star rating, proving particularly effective at protecting children – top marks achieved for the 18-month old infant dummy. Another area where it scored very highly was the level of protection it offered to pedestrians’ legs; maximum score achieved here, as well.
Electronics rounded out the final score with the press release stating:
“[The] innovative Nissan Safety Shield, the new Qashqai’s electronic systems combine to offer the driver and occupants extremely high levels of passive protection. The new Qashqai’s Safety Shield technologies incorporate Forward Emergency Braking, Driver Attention Alert, Lane Departure Warning, High Beam Assist and Traffic Sign Recognition. The Nissan Safety Shield also features Blind Spot Warning and Moving Object Detection.”
