Infiniti is taking the impressive Q50 Eau Rouge concept displayed at last month’s Detroit Auto Show to the next level with the addition of a powertrain under its vented hood. The updated study will be presented at the 2014 Geneva International Motor Show in March.
For now, Infiniti will only give us two pieces of the puzzle that is the powertrain of the Q50 Eau Rouge, including the fact that it’s a turbocharged unit and a video with its soundtrack.
We know from Infiniti boss Johan de Nysschen that the new engine should overpower the new BMW M3’s 425hp (431PS) six-cylinder twin-turbo-engine, as he stated the following at the Detroit show: “If we built this car I would expect it to feature over 500hp and 600lb/ft of torque”.
The brand’s product plan for the next four years calls for the addition of a high-performance luxury sedan, one that could very well be based on the Q50 Eau Rouge concept, though Infiniti says it hasn’t reached a final decision yet.
“The most powerful Infiniti ever has not been confirmed for production, but Infiniti will continue to listen to feedback from potential customers,” the company said in a statement today.
Do look at the following clip and listen carefully to the audio to see if you can tell us the number of cylinders the new Infiniti turbo engine has.
