As promised, Lexus has lifted the virtual veils off its Geneva Motor Show-bound RC F GT3 Concept, a study that previews a future racing car. Developed to comply with Group GT3 international racing standards, the RC F GT3 concept weighs 1,250 kg (2,756 lbs) and is powered by a modified version of the production RC F’s V8 engine that produces in excess of 540 horsepower.

Lexus says it will start vehicle testing this year, with the first GT3-compliant vehicles to be supplied to racing teams starting in 2015. GT3 racing cars are eligible for many competitions around the world, including the 24 Hours of Nürburgring endurance race in Germany and the Super Taikyu Endurance and Super GT series in Japan.

The 4,705mm (185.2in) long, 2,000mm (78.7in) wide and 1,270mm (50in) tall Lexus RC F GT3 concept looks spectacular, to say the least, sporting ultra wide wheel arches, a huge rear wing, massive scoops in the bonnet, a big diffuser with razor-sharp fins, lateral exhausts and an almost invisible ride height. The car’s looks are also enhanced by an art car-type paint scheme.

Lexus says the RC F GT3 is a sign the company is increasing its motorsport activities to allow more opportunities for car enthusiasts and customers all over the world.
