Hyundai has transformed its latest generation i10 small hatchback into the Xcent sedan that was officially revealed in India on Tuesday, ahead of its world premiere at the Auto Expo 2014 (February 7-11).
“The Xcent is a world class product developed for the Indian market…Xcent symbolizes Hyundai’s commitment to Indian customers by offering high standards of quality,” Hyundai told reporters during the unveiling, according to The Times of India.
Measuring just under 4 meters (~157 inches) in length, the Xcent will go up against the existing Maruti Suzuki Dzire and Honda Amaze, as well as the new Tata Zest and the production version of the Ford Figo Concept, both of which are also making their first appearance at the Indian show this week.
Expected to arrive in showrooms this March, the Xcent will make use of the same 1.1-liter diesel and 1.2-liter petrol engines found in the Grand i10.
