Well Opel, we have to admit that you had us fooled with your plain vanilla Adam Cabrio prototypes; though, we did mention that you may offer a similar version to last year’s Adam Rocks Concept down the line…
In keeping with the Adam city car’s adventurous nature, and to distance itself from other similarly sized models with a peel-back roof, Opel stayed true to the Adam Rock concept keeping its jacked up suspension and more rugged looks, the latter thanks to the redesigned bumpers and beefy body-cladding.
The Rocks sits 15mm higher than the regular Adam and has a wider stance, while rolling on newly designed 17-inch or 18-inch alloy wheels.
Opel says that in addition to these updates, parts of the chassis system have been modified or re-tuned, including the dampers, springs, rear suspension geometry, and steering system.
On top of the car, you’ll find a full-length, electric folding canvas roof operated via a button inside. It folds back on to the C-pillars in five seconds flat, and is available in a choice of three colors named, Black, Sweet Coffee and Light Oak.
The GM owned brand also added new exterior colors, including the vibrant yellow “Goldbusters” of the car pictured here, along with two new interior trims, one of which is borrowed directly from the concept, with Peanut-colored fabric/Morrocana seats and door panels, leather steering wheel, gearshift and handbrake, and the other combining dark brown seats in a black cabin trimmed in bright blue stitching.
The Adam Rocks will be the first model in the Opel / Vauxhall lineup to get the new 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine available in two outputs, with 90PS (89hp) and 115PS (113hp). It joins the existing four-cylinder naturally-aspirated petrol units comprising a 1.2-liter engine with 70PS (69hp) and a 1.4-liter available in two power outputs, 87PS (86hp) and 100PS (99hp).
Production of the new Adam Rocks will kick off in Eisenach, Germany this August.
