The Jaguar F-Type has finally become a fully-fledged model now that the hardtop coupe variant has been released, completing the range in the most very basic way. They still need a bit of diversity, though, and it’s speculated that it may come in the form of a glass roof that is folds up and stows away in the boot: a Targa version.
Apparently, the model is being seriously looked at, according to the brand’s chief of design, Ian Callum.
He told AutoExpress that they are “considering it, but it’s not definite,” adding that “the issue with the Targa is volume. If you think of Porsche, 10 per cent of its cars are Targa, 10 per cent of ours is less than theirs. You have to work out the business case but we have considered it, it’s not decided yet.”
No time frame for a decision being made was given, though, so we can wait for this to be officially confirmed at some point, but the problem is it may never be; unlike this…
