Renault’s engineers are performing the final tests on the new, third generation Trafic van that will be released this summer. As with the current model, it’s the child of a project co-developed between the Renault-Nissan alliance and GM’s Opel, with the German brand to introduce its version for the successor of the Vivaro at the same time.

You can’t see a lot from the heavy camouflage on the van, but Renault recently shared sketch of the new Trafic, sporting a rather optimistically dynamic appearance. Combined with the scoop shots, you can get a rough idea of the styling.

According to the designer of the Trafic, Kihyun Jung, “Its lines embody Renault’s new brand identity. My aim was to achieve a dynamic, assertive stance without sacrificing either the robustness or user-friendliness customers expect of their van.”

Renault has said that its commercial model will come with fresh technologies (think communication and networking) and a range of new engines, without providing additional details.
