Even though we’ve seen a more completed prototype of MG’s upcoming CS small crossover in China, these spy shots mark the first time that the car has been spotted testing on European soil.

Previewed by the CS Concept at the Shanghai Auto Show last spring, the production model appears to keep a similar, albeit less aggressive, look.

It’s not clear yet what platform the small crossover uses, but it is believed that MG has engineered the car to accept parent brand SAIC’s new generation of turbocharged engines that will include three-cylinder and four-cylinder petrol units, which are scheduled for production within the next year.

The production model could make its first appearance as early as this year at the 2014 Beijing Auto Show in April. While we haven’t heard of any plans for a pan-European launch, it is certain that the small crossover will join the existing range of models in the United Kingdom.
