The new generation Mazda3 hatchback and sedan models have generally garnered positive reviews from the press, both for their trendy designs and their overall competency as modern compact family cars. It’s an important model for Mazda as the “3” accounts for well over a third of sales in the U.S. alone.
If Mazda wants to further improve sales of the car, it will have to expand the series to include more body styles and a ‘halo’ model in the guise of the Mazda3 MPS / MazdaSpeed hot hatch.
Carscoops reader Damian Sebastian was kind enough to share his PhotoShop thoughts on what an extended Mazda3 lineup could include in the near future: a two-door version that would go up against the likes of the Honda Civic Coupe; a soft-top convertible edition of the aforementioned coupe; the sporty MPS / MazdaSpeed and an interesting idea for a CX3 crossover edition in the likes of the Subaru XV Crosstrek.
The only thing missing is a station wagon, which could help Mazda in Europe.
