For some, swapping an original six- or eight-cylinder engine for a Toyota mill on a classic first-gen Mustang is considered heresy, but others will say that if it isn’t a special edition with a historic value, there’s no harm done and the automotive world won’t perish with one less Ford pony car.

This is what YouTube author CMT2JZ (see what he did there?) decided for his 1968 Mustang back in 2009, and four years later, he had a Toyota-sourced 2JZ turbocharged straight-six rated at a muscle-car-worthy 413 rear-wheel horsepower residing under the hood of his convertible.

“4 years ago I drove (barely) the car into the garage to begin the restoration process of my 1968 mustang convertible,” mentions CMT2JZ on his video channel. “Lots of back and forth on direction of how I wanted the car but finally settled on this setup. I can say the car is an absolute blast!”

You can get a taste of the sounds and sights of the Supra (?) powered Mustang (this BMW M5 also runs on a similar setup) in the videos below.
