One may be tempted to quickly dismiss the aero package seen on this black Honda S2000 as an aftermarket conversion with a poor taste in rear wings, but this is actually a limited edition named CR for Club Racer, offered by the Japanese brand during the roadster’s last two years on the U.S. market with less than 2,000 cars produced.
For a mainstream sports car, it’s a rare edition and the fact that it has racked up only 4,235 miles makes it even rarer, which is why the Craigslist ad caught our attention in the first place.
As a quick reminder and besides the big rear wing and different front bumper that incorporates a spoiler, the track-worthy S2000 CR also came with a quicker steering ratio, bespoke 17-inch alloys in Bridgestone Potenza RE070 tires, firmer springs and dampers, and larger stabilizer bars, while keeping the 2.2-liter VTEC untouched at 237hp at 7,800 rpm and 162 lb-ft. of torque at 6,800 rpm.
Honda also added a lightweight aluminum hard top in place of the retractable soft top, which it said at the time, resulted in an overall weight savings of around 90 pounds over the regular S2000 (without the aluminum roof, of course).
The seller, who is located in Raleigh, North Carolina, is asking $33,000 to depart ways with the 2008MY S2000 CR.
