Because that’s exactly what the world needs right now – the Fast Five movie (plus two) with forced plot twists, no co-star and an animated character. Granted, you’ll still see Paul Walker’s face and body in the film, planned to hit theaters across the US on April 10, 2015, but it won’t really be him half the time…
We learn from NY Daily News that those in charge of shooting and producing the film have indeed gone ahead and “hired four actors with bodies very similar to Paul’s physique and they will be used for movement and as a base. Paul’s face and voice will be used on top using CGI.”
It was already known that Universal was going to stop at nothing to get the movie out, but I wonder what kind of reaction the end-result will prompt from audiences – if it’s a positive one, then all hope for the world is lost.
Walker’s untimely death has attracted a lot of attention, and it would have been bad marketing on the studio’s part to just stop filming altogether, which would have been the more natural course of action.
I fear the resulting film will be a bit like the South Park episode “The Return of Chef” and nothing like “The Dark Knight.”
