It doesn’t seem to be a write-off, but one of only 100 examples of Lamborghini’s Aventador LP720-4 50th Anniversario supercars sustained extensive damages when the driver of the brand new car (the passenger seat was still covered in plastic wraps!) lost control and hit a rocky mountainside in Hong Kong.
Carscoops’ tipster Edward told us that the accident occurred “during a test drive” and the same was reported on HK Daily News (unless our Google translation page messed up the meaning of the text and the car was driven by its new owner).
“As you can see from the images, the front windshield was badly damaged, including the front-left part of the exterior of the LP720-4 and the front-left wheel, also damaged as well,” said Edward.
“The cause of this accident is most likely due to the wet weather conditions on the road when during a test drive of this new Aventador LP720-4 50th Anniversario from the Lamborghini dealership, the driver lost control,” he explained.
The Italian exotic is said to be worth somewhere around $HK 6 million or close to US$800,000 in Hong Kong. While using the same 6.5-liter V12 as the regular Aventador, the Anniversario gains a 19hp bump from 691hp (700PS) to 710hp (720PS) along with an aerodynamic body kit finished in black and special colors for both the exterior and interior.
