The new BMW M235i’s racing career got off to a bad start this past weekend as one of the first cars delivered to customer racing teams was involved in a serious accident with a Porsche 991-generation 911 during a warm up lap just before the Nürburgring VLN Race.
According to Germany’s Motorsport Magazine, while the Porsche driver “was able to leave his vehicle unharmed”, the BMW racer was transferred to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries to his shoulder and arm.
We haven’t found a video of the accident as it happened, only the aftermath, though, one YouTube user came very close, capturing the Porsche as it was thrown onto the grass, and missing the actual contact for literally a second or two.
The new BMW M235i Racing models were officially handed over to customer racing teams at the Nürburgring this week, and made their competitive debuts at the aforementioned opening round of the VLN season.

Correction: As pointed out by our commentators, there seem to have been two separate accidents involving a BMW M235i and a Porsche 911 at the VLN race – hence the confusion. In the first video, the Black Falcon Team Porsche driver (car No.194) was injured, according to the YouTube author, while in the second clip, it was the BMW driver (car No.700) who was taken to the hospital.
