There was a time when 500-horses were restricted to exotic supercars – heck, the late-1980s, early 1990s Ferrari F40’s twin-turbocharged V8 had only 478PS (472hp). Nowadays, this number can be easily achieved with a little bit of tuning love even on mainstream sports cars like the Audi TT.
German tuner HPerformance created the two TT RS coupes featured here, with each one sporting an engine upgrade comprising a new aluminum intercooler, HPXT-510 turbocharger, JS racing cats and valve commands, adjustable via key switches or remote control, optimized intake manifold, RAM air charging and an ECU software update.
The kit nudges output from 340PS (335hp) to 500PS (493hp) and peak torque from 450Nm (332 lb-ft) to 660Nm (487 lb-ft) or 710Nm (524 lb-ft) with overboost. And if that’s not enough, HPerformance says it is already working on a 700PS (690hp) tune for the 2.5-liter turbocharged mill.
Wrapping up the program for the TT RS, the two cars gain a clutch upgrade with single mass flywheel, reinforced pressing plate and sintered metal friction washer, Bilstein B16 coilovers, H&R stabilizers, and a ceramic braking system sourced from none other than the R8 GT.
