Volkswagen will showcase an off-road interpretation of its Multivan large MPV at the Geneva Motor Show, called Multivan Alltrack. It’s only a study for now and VW doesn’t mention anything about a possible production model, but judging from the name Alltrack, also used by the Passat Variant’s crossover-flavored model, it may very well preview a road-going version.

The four-wheel-drive minivan combines a stylish nautical design with rugged off-road features. Riding on 19-inch wheels, the Multivan Alltrack features a “Moonstone Mother of Pearl Effect” color which contrasts with the front and rear bumpers offset in grey and their integrated underbody protection in matt silver, as well as with the grey wheel arches, protective side strips and boot sill protector.

The interior comes with grey-blue seats wrapped in Poltrona Frau leather, dark brown wood boat floor produced in “vinterio technology” and a decorative trim strip beneath the window’s edge that runs at hand-rail height along both sides right into the cockpit, forming a visual link with the central infotainment system. The latter features an 8-inch touchscreen, with sound quality ensured by a Dynaudio Surround Sound system with a center speaker.

The floor track system increases versatility in the use of interior space and can be used to securely mount a mobile kitchen module, which may be located either on the left side of the vehicle or behind the front seats – perpendicular to the direction of driving. The module also provides a gas cooker and sink with fresh water tank.

The Multivan Alltrack is powered by a 2.0-liter TDI engine producing 180PS (177hp) which sends power to the 4Motion system’s Haldex multi-plate coupling mounted to the rear axle. Thanks to the increased ride height, the Multivan Alltrack has an approach angle of 21 degrees and a departure angle of 15 degrees.
