We know that the Renault Alpine sports car, the one that will eventually go into production, will not look like the A110-50 concept that the brand previewed (and see in these pictures). What we don’t know is what it will look like, but information suggests that the new design chosen for it is almost done.
The Aussies over at Motoring spoke to the rhombus brand’s senior VP of corporate design, who remarked that “the Alpine design is as good as finished. I can’t wait for 2016,” though, he did not seem too certain about it working out for them as a model, because “sports cars are fragile. There’s always 10 reasons to not do them,” concluding that “That’s why we’re keeping a low profile.”
One thing he did mention was the fact that the upcoming car would not wear a Renault badge, so it seems unlikely to borrow any of the styling cues found on any car in the French manufacturer’s current lineup.
Now, they’re approaching a stage of the development cycle where they’re “still in the process of figuring out how to launch it,” so it sounds like the hard part is over.
