You have probably heard rumors about BMW considering an M2 Coupe, but until that model is officially confirmed, the closest thing to a full-blown BMW M car based on the 2-Series Coupe is the M235i Coupe.
Powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbocharged straight-six engine producing 322hp and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft), the M235i Coupe is a pretty fast car. It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.8 seconds with the 8-speed automatic gearbox and reaches an electronically-limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
Would anyone feel the need for more performance and more fun behind the wheel? Well, XCar presenter Alex Goy believes the BMW M235i is powerful and fast enough as is. To prove his point, he adds it is faster to 100 km/h than the 1-Series M Coupe – albeit by just 0.1 seconds.
