Everyone wants a BMW E30 M3 and that’s exactly the reason why these cult cars are expensive. But did you know there is another BMW 3-Series from the same era that offers similar performance and is more exclusive than the M3?

I’m talking about the Alpina C2 2.7, an E30 BMW 325i-based model powered by a 6-cylinder 2.7-liter engine producing 210PS (206hp) – 15-horses more than the standard E30 M3. A rare RHD model is available at The Restoration Show Sale event organized by Silverstone Auctions on April 12 at the NEC in Birmingham, UK.

Produced in 1988, this particular Alpina C2 2.7 is finished in Dolphin grey and features equipment including a limited slip differential, long-range fuel tank, tinted glass, black leather sport seats with rear head restraints, electric sunroof and factory de chrome.

The seller says the bodywork is in good order throughout, as is the interior. The car is said to drive without fault “with no nasty knocks or rattles whatsoever”. Furthermore, it can reach a top speed of 140 mph (225 km/h).

The coupe model has covered 100,500 miles (161,739 km) so far, but the really good news is that it is estimated to sell for £8,500 ($14,142) – £10,500 ($17,476), roughly half the cost of a comparable E30 M3.
