You’d have to be very far removed from the automotive world to want one of these, but if you are just back from a 20-year long expedition studying the complex societal structure of penguins at the South Pole (by yourself) then it is with great…pleasure that we bring you the FB-ONE.

Without seeing what it looks like, you’d be lead to think that a car with a bespoke carbon fiber body, AMG-tuned 3.2-liter V6 engine with 400hp and wide gold wheels would be every aspiring sports car owner’s dream. But it’s not.

The FB-ONE is based on a Chrysler Crossfire, which itself is based on the same underpinnings as the late 1990s Mercedes SLK, which in turn was by no means an engineering revolution when it was launched (apart from the roof).

The work of Italian tuning shop FB Tuning, the ONE is a one-off creation that features a striking (but not pretty) body, with the same strange hunch-back look as its donor car, a shape that Jeremy Clarkson compared to a dog squatting in the park – it wasn’t pretty then, and it’s not pretty now.

The most striking part of the car is the front fascia. It uses Audi A8-sourced headlights and a mock-Audi grille too – and just like the back, it’s a complete mess that proves actual designers are needed when penning a new shape (and even when trying to make an old one better).
