Citroën will unveil a new production model of its luxury DS brand at the Beijing Auto Show later this month. The French carmaker released a teaser image of the new model, accompanied by a very short press release that reads: “Meet us at the Beijing Motor Show to discover a new DS that marries power and refinement.”
The main “suspect” is the production version of the DS Wild Rubis SUV study unveiled last year in Shanghai, as Citroën has said it would launch an SUV in China in the second half of this year. The photo shows the rear end of the car, revealing the shape of the taillights, which are different than the ones seen on the concept car.
The DS crossover is rumored to receive the X7 nameplate (wonder what would BMW think of that?) and is said to be available with three gasoline engines: a 200hp 1.6-liter turbo, a 163hp 1.6-liter turbo and a 139hp naturally-aspirated 1.8-liter unit. Prices are expected to start from around 160.000 yuan ($25,822) and end around 200.000 yuan ($32,378).
Based on the same platform as the Citroën DS5 and DS 5LS, the DS X7 will be built in China by the Changan-PSA joint venture.
