The Citroen C6 probably was the most unique-looking and striking European sedan of recent memory. It may have had a partly-rubbish interior, but it had the cool self-leveling suspension and, of course, the styling in its favor. Now, a year or so after it was discontinued, we learn that its underpinnings will live on, carrying around the much more sober body of whatever production car this Dongfeng Number 1 concept will spawn.
Seen at the Beijing motor show in pure show car form, it looks like an imposing classic sedan that has a pretty sober overall demeanor, with PSA-esque flourishes in several places – the Citroen C5-like chrome strip running down the sides and the equally Citroen-esque inset rear lights.
Technical details are sparse and most are based on speculation. However, there would be no reason for Dongfeng to not use the hydropneumatic suspension setup, which would definitely give this car an edge over its steel-sprung rivals from China.
