The Porsche 918 is the most usable of the hybrid hypercars. It comes from a manufacturer who has proved it can create competent road cars, aside from the sports models we already knew they could muster and originally made them famous.
It is a bit of a compromise, being a road car that’s meant to be good on the track, while also being economical and capable of cracking sixty in under three seconds whenever you feel like it. However, judging by the sheer speed it’s seen carrying through the corners (and the brutality of acceleration out of them) it’s undoubtedly a driver’s car.
The only thing that looks odd, even in this video, is the way the steering input is translated into movement. It looks like the steering wheel is detached somewhat, and even when driver Patrick Long yanks on it hard, the car responds a bit too smoothly. Check it out in the video below.
