We initially reported that production of the Fisker Karma would be restarted “by the end of 2014,” but now it seems that it’s been pushed back again, closer to mid-2015, according to a new report.
TheDetroitNews says that a revised Karma which is “free of the bugs that drove Fisker into bankruptcy last year,” is in the works, as is a station wagon-like (the Surf) version of it – the latter will take one year longer to debut.
The smaller and cheaper Atlantic model, which probably much more eagerly anticipated than the re-launched Karma “might come” in 2017.
However, it seems that there’s a good chance that they would not call these vehicles Fisker any more, because according to the new Wanxiang-appointed president of the company, Roger Brown, “the cars are the rock stars.”
He added: “Wanxiang is not flashy. They bought this company, they paid cash for it, they don’t put any debt on their company and they execute. They didn’t buy the company to export the technology to China. … They bought it because they want to build a great car company.”
The company is also currently in search of a permanent CEO, which they hope to appoint within the next 90 days.
