What we have here are the very first official photos of the interior of Mercedes’ upcoming AMG GT sports coupe that were handed over by the automaker to German magazine AutoMotorundSport. Mercedes officials have not yet revealed the car’s designation in public, but one has to assume that along with the imagery, they also confirmed the name.
The two-seater cabin looks like a modern evolution of the outgoing SLS AMG with an elevated lower center console that houses the funky transmission lever, driving control systems and touch pad COMAND controller. You’ll also notice the four circular air vents (you can never have enough of those, right?) and the floating touchscreen display for the infotainment system.
There’s nothing new to report about the rest of the car which will be smaller, lighter but also, less exotic and more affordable than the SLS AMG, with power coming from Merc’s new 4.0-liter turbocharged V8 offered in different states of tune, depending on the model.
The AMG GT will debut later this year.
