Looking back three years, we see how much the domestic Chinese automotive sector has evolved, up to the point where the rest of the world almost needs to take it seriously…

They’ve made enough unique looking cars with technology that’s not decades old for us to understand that it’s a matter of will and interest to not copy other manufacturer’s desings and come up with their own.

Not so for the manufacturer Kawei, which as we learned from Carnewschina, has chosen the Beijing motor show to mark its glorious debut in the world of passenger vehicles.

Its first vehicle is the K1 pickup truck, that looks pretty spacious with a seemingly stretched wheelbase, but it also looks familiar. However, it doesn’t, as you might expect, copy the previous-gen Ford F-150, because it actually…copies the vehicle that copied the old F-150: the JAC pickup truck that stole the design first.

Copying another copy is like the lamest thing a startup manufacturer could do. We’ve also added a second set of photos from another of Kawei’s upcoming vehicles – the K1 SUV. We won’t tell you what we think it looks like, but we will tell you that it’s the black vehicle from the gallery below.
