Following the soccer-themed Paceman GoalCooper Edition, Mini has released details on another April 1–specific model, the Mini Cooper T. You would be pardoned for thinking this model has a special kind of turbocharged engine – it doesn’t. Instead, Mini says it’s the world’s first vehicle to be powered by a tea-leaf biofuel composite.
Available in exclusive colors including ‘Chamomile Yellow’, ‘Red Bush’ and ‘Earl Grey’, the Mini Cooper T is capable of covering up to 40 miles (64 km) on a single cup.
Its standard features include VVT, ABS and DSC, as well as DAT (Dunk Avoidance Technology). The latter is a filtration system that stops passersby from inserting biscuits into the Mini T’s fuel tank in order to moisten their snacks.
“This particular project has been brewing for years. Our extensive research has shown that the nation’s favourite drink is also an ideal biofuel. We already know good things come in small packages, but with Cooper T customers benefitting from up to 40 miles per cup, we are delighted to have the opportunity to bring this car to market,’’ said the head of Cooper T engineering, Dr. Ivana Kuppa.
The Mini Cooper T will be on display at Mini Cotswold Gloucester on 1 April.
