Take what you read with a grain of salt, but according to an allegedly official BMW document mapping the brand’s product presentations for the 2015 model year that was leaked online over at Bimmerpost, the Bavarian firm has plenty of interesting arrivals planned for the USA over the course of the next 12 months.
While BMW officials have denied reaching a decision on offering the new 2-Series Active Tourer in the States, surprisingly, the list says the compact minivan will reach dealers next spring in two guises, the front-wheel drive 220i and the all-wheel drive 225xi.
We spoke to BMW USA press spokesman Julian Arguelles, who told us, “The 2 Series Active Tourer has been launched in other markets and no decision has been made on a possible launch for the US market”.
Other highlights listed in the document include an expansion of the 2-Series Coupe with new all-wheel drive variants, including the 228xi and M235xi, the arrival of the next generation X6 (F16) late this summer and the new X5M and X6M in the beginning of 2015.
Again, let us stress that we have no way of knowing if the document is real.
Update: While BMW USA says no decision has been made for the 2-Series Active Tourer, BMW Group Mexico spokeswoman Elizabeth Solis, told us, “In Mexico we do have plans to offer this vehicle, date hasn’t been confirmed”.
