The collection of special edition Picanto city cars that form part of Kia’s ‘Originals’ series and which the brand says, “are changed at regular intervals along the lines of a fashion collection,” continues with the UK release of the Picanto Quantum.

Available exclusively in 3-door guise, the Quantum edition is finished in a Titanium Silver metallic paintwork with black cloth interior upholstery and comes with plenty of standard features.  These include:

– 15-inch five-round-spoke alloy wheels, automatic air conditioning, a smart key entry system with engine start/stop button, electric sliding and tilting sunroof, electrically folding, adjustable and heated door mirrors with LED indicator lights, front foglights, a six-speaker audio system, body-coloured side sill mouldings and automatic headlight control with ‘see-you-home’ and ‘welcome’ lighting.

Kia also adds the ‘Urban Pack’ consisting of reversing (parking) sensors, LED ambient interior lighting, an uprated ‘Supervision’ instrument cluster and an illuminated driver’s side vanity mirror.

Power comes from a 1.25-litre petrol engine producing 84bhp at 6,000rpm and 120Nm (86 lb-ft) that can be matched to a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic.

The manual model is priced at £11,895 and can accelerate from 0-60mph (96km/h) in 11.0 seconds, top out at 106mph (71km/h) and return a combined fuel economy of 62.8mpg UK with CO2 emissions of 106g/km.

For the automatic model Kia asks £12,495. With this set up, the Picanto reaches 60mph (96km/h) in 12.9 seconds and has a top speed of 101mph (163km/h), while its combined fuel consumption and CO2 emissions figures are 50.4mpg UK and 130g/km respectively.
