As of May 1, the Subaru BRZ will be priced from £23,995 (€29,090) in the UK for the SE Lux model with manual transmission and £25,495 for automatic models. That is £2,500 less than before, with the price drop helping to differentiate more clearly the BRZ from the WRX STI performance sedan, which starts from £28,995 in Britain – £4,000 less than the previous model.
Subaru UK says the lower prices are possible thanks to improvements in currency exchange. “A more favourable exchange rate between the pound and yen has allowed us to reduce the price of a number of models in recent years, and our performance range – the BRZ and WRX STI – are the latest to benefit,” explained Paul Tunnicliffe, Managing Director of Subaru UK.
In the last twelve months, Subaru UK has also reduced the price of the XV compact crossover range, while the new Forester has kept its price range unchanged over previous versions.
The BRZ SE Lux model is equipped as standard with Alcantara and leather trimmed seats and Torsen rear-axle differential, which allows the driver to better exploit the sports car’s handling characteristics. Auto models feature steering wheel-mounted gearshift paddles.
The Subaru BRZ is powered by a 2.0-liter horizontally-opposed Boxer petrol engine producing 200 hp. The rear-wheel drive coupe sprints from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 140 mph (225 km/h).
