Because it’s the most basic and rudimentary of the motoring disciplines, go karting is often overlooked by game makers who turn to high horsepower formulas because they think that’s what everybody wants…
Thankfully, independent developers have opposing views to those of large studios, and that’s how this promising little gem came about.
Called KartSim, it’s the work of one man, Zach Griffin, who is currently trying to get his work-in-progress title into the Steam Greenlight program: “It’s a system that enlists the community’s help in picking some of the new games to be released on Steam. Developers post information, screenshots, and video for their game and seek a critical mass of community support in order to get selected for distribution.”
The game is slated for release in “mid 2014,” but you will have to support it for that to happen – if it enters Early Access phase, then you’ll be able to take part in the development process as well, reporting bugs and passing suggestions to the creator.
It’s still early in its development cycle, so your feedback may matter more than you think – oddly, the official YouTube channel has videos from two years ago too, and this means the game has been in the works for quite some time; OMSI suffered a similar fate.
