The Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid is now available to order with the firm’s dynamic R-Design package. The V60 Plug-in Hybrid R-Design features a number of unique interior and exterior features that contribute to a sportier look. The exterior blends the Plug-in Hybrid identification with the R-Design front, rear diffuser and 18-inch ‘Ixion’ wheels.
Inside, the estate comes with a full R-Design interior, including standard sport seats which combine black nubuck textile and perforated leather. The cabin blends inlays with a perforated look, black leather and contrasting stitching, crowned by the black headliner. The V60 Plug-in Hybrid R-Design retains the special plug-in hybrid instrumentation and information.
“We sold almost 8,000 plug-in hybrids in 2013. Adding the R-Design dynamic attributes to the V60 Plug-in Hybrid – the world’s first diesel plug-in hybrid – will give its attractiveness another boost. The customer gets segment-topping performance combined with outstanding efficiency,” said Alain Visser, Senior Vice President Marketing, Sales and Customer Service at Volvo Car Group.
The front wheels of the Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid are powered by a five-cylinder 2.4-liter turbodiesel producing 215hp and 440 Nm (324 lb-ft) of torque mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. The rear axle is turned by an electric motor producing 68 horsepower and 200 Nm (147 lb-ft), which gets its juice from an 11.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack installed under the floor of the load compartment.
The car is able to cover up to 50 km (31 miles) on electric power alone and has a combined fuel consumption of 1.8 l/100 km (130.6 mpg US) in the default hybrid mode, with corresponding CO2 emissions of just 48 g/km.
