The Porsche 914, or VW-Porsche as it was also known in Europe, is probably the most overlooked model in the carmaker’s history. Lacking both the looks and the performance of the 911, the 914 was labeled as the poor man’s Porsche. The fact that it was co-developed with VW, with lesser versions even wearing the VW badge in Europe, didn’t help its case either.

However, the 914 proved to be a solid car, with owners running them without problems for many years. Such an owner is Mr. Jack Griffin, who has had his 914-6 6-cylinder model for 38 years – partly because not many people offered to buy it from him, as he jokes. A

lthough Porsche sold a 6-cylinder version powered by a 2.0-liter flat-six producing 110PS (109hp), this particular car features a 2.5-liter six-cylinder boxer engine sourced from the 911 with over 200 horsepower.

As one can expect, this changes things completely. Head past the break to find out how different it is in Petrolicious’ video.
