Unless some dealer has an unsold example lying around, you can’t get the ultimate road going version of the Mercedes SLS AMG, the Black Series, as the only model officially available for sale new right now is the GT Final Edition with which Benz will soon end the series.

If you’re among those lucky few who already own one and are looking for an extra punch, Mcchip-DKR has just released an ECU tune especially for the SLS AMG Black Series.

The Stage 1 software update from the German firm is priced at €3,199 (approximately US$4,440) and it gives the 6.2-liter V8 an extra 23hp and 15Nm for a total of 645HP (654PS) and 649Nm (479 kb-ft) of peak torque, with Mcchip-DKR also claiming that it doesn’t affect fuel consumption (yes, we can almost hear the sigh of relief coming from Black Series edition owners…).
