All those who have driven the McLaren P1 have been completely sold on its performance. It is not only monstrously quick on the straights, but it also corners with amazing competence and has an all-electric mode that still offers hot hatch pace when its V8 is not running.
However, up until this latest review by MotorTrend, we really didn’t know the numbers it was capable of putting down in the real world. Testing it on the Dunsfold airfield track also used by Top Gear, reviewer Carlos Lago managed to squeeze in an (apparently unofficial) acceleration run using the launch control.
According to their measurements, 60 mph (96 km/h) comes up in 2.6 seconds, 100 mph (160 km/h) in 4.7 seconds and the quarter-mile is completed in 9.8 seconds at 149 mph (238 km/h).
