Expected to go on sale sometime in the fall of 2015, the story of McLaren’s upcoming baby supercar is slowly being flushed out with industry insider details.
We had already heard hints that the car was going to debut at next year’s edition of the Geneva motor show, and now that information is conveyed by an Edmunds report that goes into further detail.
It states that for the car, which will likely not be called the P13, will become available in the fall for an estimated price tag of around $210,000 or ~€155,000.
Speaking to McLaren Managing Director, Mike Flewitt, they learn “it’s got to be usable, with easy ingress and egress and good storage on board,” yet “be a very engaging car to drive. It will be fun but “safe and its handling unintimidating.”
As for plans further in the future than 2015, apparently, the brand is looking to release yet another model, currently dubbed P15, which will sit above the 650S, though Flewitt made it clear that “is not a replacement for the P1.”
A replacement for the P1 is still a decade in the future. By that time, they hope to have progressed to making 4-6,000 cars per year.
Finally, the McLaren official confirmed that by that time “all models will be hybrids, even if some use a basic form of hybridiziation.”
