This wouldn’t be the first time we’ve seen the upcoming Cadillac ATS-V Coupe, as our trusty spies nabbed photos of a prototype late last year, but now we have the tester on film, courtesy of The Fast Lane Car that spotted the camouflaged model undergoing high altitude testing.
Telltale signs that suggest this is the “V” high-performance version are the quad exhaust pipes and the wide wheels.
Cadillac’s answer to the BMW M3/M4 and the upcoming Mercedes C63 AMG should be powered by a twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6 borrowed from the CTS-V Sport producing at least 420-horses, but there has also been talk about a V8 offering.
On Monday, GM said that “the next-generation V-Series models” will appear next year. We asked Cadillac spokesman Brian Corbett to elaborate on whether we’ll see both the ATS-V and the CTS-V, but he evaded giving a straight answer.
“Cadillac is moving into the next-generation V-Series next year,” said Corbett. “Expect the new V-Series models to raise the bar as we’ve done with models like ATS and CTS sedans. In the remaining months of 2014, we will bring to a close the current generation CTS-V, as we announced today. The V-Series will return – even stronger – in the 2015 calendar year. Stay tuned for more specific details on the models.”
