How can you tell Mini’s first ever Hatch (the model) with five-doors apart from the upcoming Clubman that drops the 2+1 setup and gains two regular, rear passenger doors?
Admittedly, if you’re looking at the two cars parked side-by-side from this angle, it’s not easy, but not entirely impossible, as the devil is in the details (sic): the new Clubman has a flatter front end and a wider body together with a more upright rear column.
You can’t see it in these pictures, but whereas the (blue- and green-colored) five-door Mini has a traditional hatch hinged on the roof, the longer Clubman retains the current version’s barn-style, split tailgate doors.
We get it and you get it, but wouldn’t you just love to be a fly in the wall when Mini’s salespeople try to explain the differences to an untrained eye?
The five-door Hatch is expected to launch later this year and will be followed by the new Clubman.
