The CitiJet concept is not the only surprise Skoda prepared for its fans at this year’s Wörthersee GTI event (May 28-31), with the Czech carmaker also previewing another study named the Yeti Extreme.

The show car combines the characteristics of an SUV, including all-wheel drive and height-adjustable chassis, with strong design elements and equipment features from a rally car.

The Yeti Extreme is powered by a 1.8-liter TSI engine producing 150hp, mated to a six-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission. Thanks also to the 250 Nm (184 lb-ft) of torque available between 1,500 and 4,200 rpm, the Yeti Extreme sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in 9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 192 km/h (119 mph). Stopping power is supplied by special Octavia RS brakes.

Styling-wise, the study catches the attention thanks to the large off-road tyres mounted on 17-inch alloy wheels. The Yeti Extreme features tinted side windows which contrast with the bright yellow-green color used for the roof and wheel rim inserts. The front end of the car has a reworked bumper with a large air intake, as well as LED headlights. Other design features are the bulged wheel arches and door sills, as well as the matching rear bumper integrating two wide exhaust tailpipes.

In the boot, Skoda fitted a spare wheel and so-called “recovery tracks”, special traction mats that can be pushed under the wheels in case the car is stuck in sand. The cabin has a rally-inspired design and includes four individual Recaro sports seats with integrated four-point safety belts, along with a “Super Sport” steering wheel with integrated gearshift paddles.

The materials used inside include carbon fiber for the inner door covers, dark Alcantara with green accents for the seats and aluminum for the floor panel, pedals and door sill plates. The car is also equipped with a sand shovel and thermos flasks which are integrated into holders fitted in the paneling. Finally, the center console has been redesigned and features rally accessories including a belt cutter and a fire extinguisher. There’s also an iPad cradle integrated into the dashboard and a first aid kit into the glove box.
