Would you ever expect that a Transformers movie would serve as an allegory for immigration, the civil rights movement and perhaps even racism as well? Welcome to the world of director Michael Bay and his fourth installment of the alien robot saga dubbed Transformers: Age of Extinction.
As pointed out in a piece on Popwatch, that’s the sense you get when you visit the film’s new TransformersAreDangerous.com viral website that contains made up newspaper clippings and even a video report about those damn robots in disguise.
In keeping up with all the seriousness, the movie’s new lead star Mark Wahlberg, who plays Cade Yeager, a single dad struggling to raise a teenage daughter, told IMBD in an interview – wait for it – that the film will be more “believable”, you know, with Optimus Prime riding a mechanical dinosaur and all…
“Recruiting the dinobots — it’s pretty elaborate in how it happens, you know, it’s not like Optimus has a whistle and they come running, I mean he really has to convince them to come onboard and to fight this fight, and it’s pretty cool how it’s done,” said Wahlberg. “I think people are definitely going to get their money’s worth, it’s well worth the wait. And I think, for the die-hard fans, they’re going to have a whole new thing to kind of look forward to into the future.”
Asked by the interviewer about the one thing that diehard fans should really be looking forward to, Wahlberg replied:
“It’s hard without giving things away, but just expect to be blown away. I mean, when we saw parts of the movie, and how it’s come together, you know, you have a whole new cast, you have a whole new threat, new enemies and you know, you have all the things that you liked, with all the explosions and the action, but it’s just a little bit more realistic, a little bit more believable, I think,” said Wahlberg.
