It seems that in the world of tuned cars, the brighter the hoses and wires an engine uses the more power it delivers. I mean, there’s absolutely no reason for this run of the mill Volkswagen Golf to keep up with a Ferrari 458 Speciale, yet it does…
Pop its hood and the source of the German’s brutal power is revealed: a 3.6-liter V6 engine (we assume it’s the familiar VW group V6 unit), with a twin-turbo kit and around 700 hp. The car was originally an R model, so it already had all-wheel drive in place to try and put the power down.
It does that brilliantly, as you’ll see in the video below, where the Ferrari simply can’t go past; the latter is obviously the lighter and better performing of the two and it keeps up with the Golf despite being down on power compared to it.
Don’t videos like this put performance cars into perspective more? I mean, if you can make a Golf into a supercar killer that’s still usable and drivable every day. It looks like a Golf so you won’t have all eyes on you wherever you go, and even if you do, you can still sprint away like you would if you actually had a Ferrari or a Lambo or a McLaren…
