Following the sketches revealed last week, VW has lifted the virtual veils off the GTI Roadster Vision Gran Turismo, a car designed exclusively for the Gran Turismo 6 video game.

The car will be added to the PlayStation 3 exclusive title Gran Turismo 6 in a free update planned for June 2014. VW will also present a full-scale model of the car on May 29 at the Wörthersee GTI Meet in Austria, but we don’t know whether the prototype will be functional or not.

The virtual car is powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo VR6 TSI engine that produces 496 horsepower (503PS) and a massive 491 pound-feet (665 Nm) of torque. Mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox, the engine is an evolution of the powerplant used in last year’s Design Vision GTI Concept, producing 105 Nm more while maintaining the same power output.

No performance figures were offered, but the VW GTI Roadster Vision Gran Turismo should be faster than it looks thanks to the 4Motion all-wheel drive system and the aerodynamics package which includes a rear diffuser, a gigantic rear wing, and a race-car-style front splitter.

The study sits on 20-inch wheels shod with 235/35 front and 275/30 rear tires and features supercar-style vented disc brakes with a diameter of 15.0 inches (381mm) up front and 14.0 inches (356 mm) at the back.
