Volkswagen has announced that it will be showing off a unique version of its Golf GTI, one that’s specially designed for the Gran Turismo racing game. Since the teaser trailer released by the automaker is called #VisionGTI, it’s not hard to picture the transformation it will undergo from regular road car to bold concept-like shapes, in the vein similar concepts from BMW and Mercedes.

The date chosen for the reveal is May 23 (next week); it may even be connected to this.

If you can read wireframes, the car has basically already been revealed in the video. It looks much wider than a regular GTI, it has only two doors, features side intakes (possibly hinting at a mid-mounted engine) and a big spoiler on the back.

Looking at the wireframe closer, one could legitimately believe that the model will, in fact, come without a roof – it looks like it has one of those low frameless windscreens that wrap around the cockpit, or just a very-very low roofline.
