Watch Dogs comes out next week for PC on both previous- and next-gen consoles, so there’s a plethora of videos being uploaded and receiving attention as you’re reading this.
So, as you might already know, much in the same way there certain automotive publications gain early access to certain cars which they get to drive and talk about before everybody else, so too do gaming oriented ones. Privileged early access is what some magazines and successful YouTubers get, and it results in lengthy gameplay videos that pop up just prior the actual release of the game.
It’s the publisher’s way of building hype, especially since nobody ever seems to say anything bad about these games at this stage. It’s like they’re given the game along with the guidelines of what they can and can’t talk about; think of it as the manufacturer test drive events and the kind of conclusions those produce.
At a glance, the game looks all right (not as spectacular as in some of the previous videos…), and it’s all well and good until you get a closer look at car physics. We weren’t expecting this game to rewrite the book on that one, but it looks like it’s not even up to Grand Theft Auto IV levels of car damage and suspension movement (a 2008-2009 title), plus the tires always seem to give off particles (that look like smoke and quite unrealistic). Scroll down and check out the videos posted below.
